The Chapel

Our itinerary concludes with this small chapel, presenting itself as a quadrangular structure dating back to the mid-1800s. It belonged to the Frescobaldi family and originally served as a family chapel with a funeral function closely linked to the Castiglioni Farm.

Until around the mid-20th century, on certain religious festivities that particularly involved the local population, the Frescobaldi family would open the chapel to the public. There is particularly mention of a procession that would start from the chapel and extend to the Church of San Michele in Castiglioni. The return to Montegufoni follows the same route as the outward journey.
