Just outside the Montespertoli you reach one of the oldest parish churches, San Piero in Mercato, and original cornerstone of Montespertoli, governed by a branch of the Alberti family. The current parish church of San Piero in Mercato hosts the charming Museum of Sacred Art. . If taking via Volterrana towards Castelfiorentino we meet the parish church of Coeli Aula, dating back to the 9th century, from which you can reach Botinaccio and the parish of Santa Maria della Pace referring to the “pax medicea” achieved by the Grand Duchy in the second half of the 16th century.
