The Montespertoli Trees and Nature Committee is organizing the 9th annual Festival of Trees, an event dedicated to Peace and the important connection between nature and the local community. The initiative will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 21 for National Tree Day with a series of engaging activities culminating in a striking “Peace Pageant.”
This year’s central theme is“Trees is peace and peace is…an endless green scarf.”
The event, promoted as part of the project “The Thread of Life” carried out by the SoleLuna Association, will be an opportunity to unite citizenship, schools and associations in a collective creative action dedicated to the current and crucial issue of peace.
The main action will be the unrolling of a long scarf, made throughout the year thanks to the contributions of parents, children, associations and community groups. The “peace parade” will run from Machiavelli Square to People’s Square, symbolizing unity and vitality through the color green. The event will begin at 2:45 p.m. at Le Corti Cultural Center, where the associations and citizens who joined the initiative will be thanked.
The endless green scarf, a symbol of peace and cooperation, will be unfurled as a long green thread that will embrace the trees in People’s Square. The festival will continue with celebrations, entertainment for children and adults, and a snack by the Montespertoli Schools Parents Committee.
“The infinite green scarf project goes beyond the creation of an artifact, becoming a relational art action that embodies fundamental principles such as biodiversity and synergy, taught by Nature and Trees. This initiative aims to stimulate reflection on values essential to building a world of peace, overcoming competition in favor of collaboration.” explains Lucilla Lauricella, representative of the committee.
In addition, from Nov. 16 to 20, various associations will promote side events dedicated to peace, including planting and replanting new trees in various public and private venues.
The 2023 Festival of Trees will also be an opportunity to install new signs along the route of the“ City Council Tree Friendly Trees” a project that will be developed during 2024.
