On the occasion of NationalUnity Day and Armed Forces Day, the City of Montespertoli organized two separate events to commemorate and pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in defense of our nation.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, at 8:30 a.m., the Mayor along with the City Council will lay a laurel wreath at the Lucignano headstone. Immediately afterwards, at 9:30 a.m., there will be a mass in suffrage for the fallen at St. Andrew’s Church in the capital city. The ceremony will conclude with the laying of a wreath at the War Memorial in People’s Square, followed by speeches by local dignitaries.
The ceremony in People’s Square will be made even more solemn by the participation of the new Amedeo Bassi Philharmonic.
On Monday, Nov. 6, at 10:00 a.m., the city administration will meet with students from the “R. Fucini” Grade I Secondary School. Together with the students, a procession will be formed and will head to the Capital Cemetery to honor the fallen through the laying of a wreath at the monument. During this ceremony, Mayor Alessio Mugnaini and Major on Leave E. I. Giulio Cesare Bucci, will give some speeches on the sacrifice of the Fallen and the value of nationalunity and the Armed Forces in the defense of our nation. They will be words of reflection and gratitude for all students in attendance.
