From 29 June to November 2026, Montespertoli hosts the first edition of FORME – Festival of Public Art, a project promoted by the Municipality of Montespertoli in co-design with the association A Testa Alta A.P.S., curated by Street Levels Gallery and made possible thanks to the support of Fondazione CR Firenze.
The festival was created with the aim of enhancing and offering a contemporary interpretation of Montespertoli’s urban and cultural landscape through widespread artistic interventions in public spaces. A project that seeks to transform the town into an open-air art gallery and become an annual event dedicated to street art and public art.
For this first edition, seven international artists have been selected by Street Levels Gallery and invited to create site-specific interventions inspired by the history, traditions and local landscape.
Thiago Mazza will explore the relationship between the territory and its natural environment, with particular attention to vineyards and olive groves, key elements of the Tuscan landscape and its productive identity.
Luca Zamoc will develop an intervention dedicated to the popular traditions and rural heritage of Montespertoli, an area historically connected to agricultural production in the Florentine territory, with particular reference to stories of rural life and straw production.
Ufo Cinque will reinterpret the language of ancient maps, heraldry and medieval chronicles through the figure of the Cavalier Errante (The Wandering Knight), a symbol of passage and journey through the lands of Montespertoli between past and present, telling stories of landscapes, ancient routes, coats of arms and local memory.
Manolo Mesa will focus on the theme of ceramics, an expression deeply rooted in the artisan tradition of many Tuscan villages.
Skan will dedicate his intervention to the figure of Cino Cinelli, cyclist and entrepreneur born in Montespertoli, through a reinterpretation of his personal and professional story linked to the world of cycling and innovation in frame design.
Nelio, a French artist known for his strong abstract approach combined with figurative elements, will translate the Tuscan landscape into shapes and colours inspired by autumn, cypress trees and the rows of vineyards that define the local horizon.
Nespoon, a Polish artist renowned for her research into embroidery, will create an intervention inspired by the local tradition of lace and needlework, reinterpreting it as a contemporary visual structure and an expression of identity. Her work will highlight the social and community value of embroidery, understood as a collective moment of work and sharing among the women of the town, transforming a decorative practice into a form of connection and belonging.
Through the works of the artists involved, FORME creates a dialogue between contemporary art, local heritage and landscape, offering a new way to experience and discover Montespertoli.
The project also benefits from the contribution of main sponsor Livith S.p.A. and technical sponsors Caparol and Aurora Color Srl, together with numerous local companies: Astra per l’edilizia Srl, Cosider Srl, Edile Di Gloria Srl, Falsetti Pierantonio e Simone (S.N.C), FIMA Nastri Srl, Gold Note – Akamai Srl, Martin Group Srl, Intercom Srl, Moel Srl, Florentia Legno Srl, Immobiliare Giorgini Srl and Fara Srl Vetrerie e Cristallerie.
